The Elkhorn Creek near Church's Grove

                                              This Painting has been sold.

This lovely Sawyier original shows a wonderful serene summer scene on the Elkhorn Creek, to the east of Frankfort, Kentucky. A distinctive rock formation is just under a sycamore tree, ideal for resting and placing you feet in the cool water of the flowing Elkhorn.

The scene is supposed to be at Church's Grove, location of the larger rock formation known as Indian Head Rock. This was one of Sawyier's favorite fishing spots, and he created many paintings in this area.

This painting is in very good condition and with a Kentucky era signature would have been created over 100 years ago.
