WARM REFLECTIONS

In this lovely watercolor, the late afternoon sunlight shinesthrough the sycamore trees and reflections off the palisades.  Although the water sparkles with many different hues of blues, browns, and yellows, there seems to exist a feeling of warmth from the reflections. Just the type of setting in which Sawyier would soon stop painting for the day, tie up his houseboat for the evening, and then enjoy the solitude of the nearby meadow.

This original painting was in the early 1960's near Belleville, Michigan.  Later, it found a home with a couple living in Carmel, Indiana. The painting reminded them of a scene near Irvine, Kentucky, the owner's birthplace.
